What’s not so magical about the area outside the Disney gates?

When potential visitors think of Disney; you can see the relaxed almost magical look on their face. Once they come, the magic seems to last until they are faced with the fact that not only did they have an unrealistic view of what to expect inside the property itself; but what they are confronted with just outside the gates where they could be staying and socializing.

Here is some very important insider information that you must have in order to stay safe and happy while on your Disney vacation.

Tickets: The most expensive thing about Disney is the tickets. At just under a hundred dollars for a one day; one person pass it can be enough to turn anyone’s mood for the worse. As you drive along the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway which is one of the main roads leading to Disney also known as highway 192 informally; you will see a common trend; businesses which are interested in selling you cheap tickets. This can be done a few different ways; you can get someone else’s unused days on a ticket tourists sold to these companies which they will in turn sell to you. Or, you can take a tour of a time share property and sit for hours while you are hounded into buying a vacation property which will cost you far more than the price of a ticket to Disney. When you are finally done arguing with the sales person, after wasting half a day; you can finally get your ticket. Stay away from them at all costs.

Important hint; some hotels have them there disguised as a concierge service. Once you get talking they have you.

Unsafe areas: At first glance you may feel safely caught up in the magic of the theme parks you just spent time in; and everything you see may seem filled with that magic. The surrounding area of Kissimmee which has Irlo Bronson Highway running through it is marked by a series of mile markers. From mile marker 14 and above is the town of Kissimmee proper. This area is ok for a little bargain shopping and flea markets however come night fall this area is as dangerous as any intercity to the person who doesn’t know what to look for. Robbery would be the main concern; and drugs. Other places in which you should take heed in the same manner, is Old Town which is clearly marked around town by its towering sling –shot ride. This fun park is a great spot for during the day; but a little sketchy at night.

Long lines outside the parks: If you think this town is anything like a snappy – quick- to- serve northern city, you are in for a disappointment. If you are looking to stop for a coffee or breakfast remember that the whole town of Disney workers are there before you.

If you keep these few guidelines in mind your visit should be far easier.
